Spire Healthcare has launched a recall for hundreds of patients of orthopaedic surgeon Habib Rahman over fears of unnecessary surgical procedures being carried out.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s understood that 217 patients have been contacted by letter with invitations to see an independent consultant to review any treatment they have received. The recall comes after an investigation was completed by the Royal College of Surgeons at the end of last year, with concerns raised about unnecessary shoulder manipulation operations carried out under general anaesthetic.<\/p>\n

Habib Rahman recall by Spire Healthcare<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The recall initiated by Spire Healthcare for patients of Habib Rahman is worrying news for those who may now discover that their procedure was completely unnecessary.<\/p>\n

It may be that people have undergone invasive procedures that were completely without medical merit, and this may leave patients with long-term problems. Any invasive surgery can be risky and can lead to future complications, and this can especially be the case for shoulder procedures. It\u2019s not uncommon for consultants to try and avoid the need for shoulder surgery as a result of risks of further damage being caused.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s also worrying is that the Spire Parkway Hospital in Solihull is also where disgraced breast surgeon Ian Paterson<\/strong><\/a> worked for a time. He was convicted in 2017 of numerous counts of wounding with intent having also carried out significant and unnecessary operations. The fact that it\u2019s the same hospital involved in such a scandal suggests that there may be a deeper problem.<\/p>\n
